Your fridge can do a lot of the hard work for you, as long as it’s set up right. Getting the temperature between 0 and 5°C alone can keep food fresh for up to three days longer 🧊
Where food is stored makes a difference too. The bottom shelf is the coldest, so that’s the best spot for meat, fish and anything close to its date, while fruit and veg are happiest in the salad drawer. And keep milk and dairy off the door, because that’s actually the warmest part of your fridge 🤯
It’s worth cooling hot food for an hour or two before it goes in (warm food heats everything around it), shutting the door as quickly as you can, and popping your chilled shopping into a cool bag on the way home so nothing warms up before you unpack it.
None of it takes much effort, but it all adds up to fresher food and less waste 🙌
