But she never imagined how important it would become during one of the hardest times of her life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2021, Anna\u2019s world changed when both of her parents passed away, just a day apart from each other. What started as a way to share a few items became a deeply healing process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cGiving many of their treasured possessions away on Olio really helped me work through the grief, and I helped some lovely people in the process,\u201d<\/em> she says. <em>\u201cKnowing that my parents&#8217; things are living on through others brings me great comfort.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"750\" height=\"313\" src=\"https:\/\/olioapp.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1\/2025\/03\/olio_story_april4.png\" alt=\"Anna sharing on Olio her parents' possessions\" class=\"wp-image-4026\" style=\"width:600px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/olioapp.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1\/2025\/03\/olio_story_april4.png 750w, https:\/\/olioapp.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1\/2025\/03\/olio_story_april4-300x125.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One moment stands out: Anna had listed her mum\u2019s dressing table and stool. A nurse, working full time and struggling to furnish her new home, came to collect it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cWhen she arrived and heard my story, we both burst into tears and hugged<\/em>. <em>She was so grateful to have a lovely piece of furniture, and I was so grateful that it was going to someone so deserving.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Over the course of 18 months, Anna continued to carefully clear her parents\u2019 home, leaving most items in the porch for<a href=\"https:\/\/help.olioapp.com\/article\/646-no-contact-pickups\"> contact-free collections<\/a>. While she didn\u2019t meet everyone in person, she received message after message of thanks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/olioapp.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1\/2025\/03\/olio_story_april3.png\" alt=\"Anna sharing on Olio her parents' possessions\" class=\"wp-image-4027\" style=\"width:600px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/olioapp.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1\/2025\/03\/olio_story_april3.png 800w, https:\/\/olioapp.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1\/2025\/03\/olio_story_april3-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/olioapp.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1\/2025\/03\/olio_story_april3-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/olioapp.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1\/2025\/03\/olio_story_april3-768x768.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cI\u2019m so proud to say that the only things that went to the tip were a double bed base and a very worn sofa.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today, Anna continues sharing on Olio, and says the app will always hold a special place in her heart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cI think it is a very special thing, and allows treasured possessions to live on with others who need them. That is just priceless.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What do you love the most about using Olio?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cIt\u2019s knowing that the things I no longer need are being appreciated and given a new lease of life by someone else.
