We all want to make a difference – but sometimes it\u2019s hard to know where to start. Life\u2019s busy, the world feels overwhelming, and it\u2019s hard to believe that small actions really matter. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

But the good news is, giving back (and feeling great)  is easy with Olio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This summer, we\u2019re inviting Olio-ers across the UK and Ireland* to become a <\/strong>Food Waste Hero<\/strong><\/a> – and<\/strong> complete at least one surplus food collection between 14th June and 5th July<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not familiar with Olio\u2019s Food Waste Heroes? They\u2019re our wonderful volunteers, who rescue food from local businesses each day, and share it with Olio users nearby via the app, making sure it\u2019s eaten and enjoyed.  They also get to keep some food for themselves, as a thank you! \ud83e\udd73<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joining them is a chance to do something that\u2019s good for the planet and most importantly, your own wellbeing. Get ready to feel a renewed sense of purpose, and a closer connection with your community \ud83e\udd70<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And as a thank you, you\u2019ll be entered into our prize draw to win 1 of 3 amazing wellness prizes<\/strong>** \u2013 a Treatwell voucher, a relaxing gift set, or a self heating eye mask set! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For newbies, we\u2019ve just revamped our training into 6 quick, engaging training modules that\u2019ll get you up to speed on food safety and how to collect and share surplus food like a pro (while keeping our community safe).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Volunteering is genuinely good for you \ud83d\udc86<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

While volunteering is a great way to help others, it has a lot of benefits for your own mental health too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Studies show that people who volunteer regularly report<\/a> lower levels of stress, greater life satisfaction, and improved mood. One large-scale UK study<\/a> found that people who volunteer regularly report higher levels of mental wellbeing \u2013 particularly adults over 40.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our own Food Waste Heroes say that doing collections gives them structure, purpose, and a real sense of joy:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
