Olio-ers are community people. If you’re already chatting with your neighbours, why not take it one step further and create a Neighbourhood Watch group?

Neighbourhood Watch is the largest volunteer-led crime prevention charity in the country, bringing local people together to make their communities safer, friendlier, and more active places to live. Joining offers real benefits both for you and your street:

Crime prevention

Neighbourhood Watch schemes have been shown to reduce local crime rates, particularly burglaries, anti-social behaviour, and vandalism. When neighbours look out for each other, potential offenders take notice.

Stronger community ties

Neighbourhood Watch brings people together, building the kind of trust and support network that matters in both everyday life and emergencies. Members check on each other’s homes, share alerts about suspicious activity, and organise events like street parties, safety talks, and litter picks – so everyone feels a genuine sense of belonging and pride in where they live.

Real-time information and alerts

Most groups operate through WhatsApp or email, but the charity also provides access to a dedicated Alert system with direct updates from local police – keeping members informed about safety concerns before they escalate.

Peace of mind

Knowing you’re not alone in looking out for your home and family makes a real difference. Neighbourhood Watch empowers residents to feel safer and more in control, and the charity provides training, resources, and ongoing support to help every group thrive.

Sign up today and connect your street to a national network of people making their neighbourhoods better. It’s one of the simplest and most impactful things you can do.
