Food Waste Hero collections during Christmas season 🎄
⏰ Christmas is an incredibly busy time for our partner businesses, so there may be some changes to your regular collections. To help everything run smoothly:
🔘 Some businesses have informed us of their changes during the holidays ahead of time. In these instances we’ve either updated the Volunteer Hub and/or shared a link below ⬇️
🔘 If the business you’re collecting from isn’t listed on this page, please speak to your Squad Captain or contact the site directly (if you are usually allowed to do so) 📞
🔘 If food is confirmed at your site, please attend your collection as usual
🛒 Christmas week often brings much bigger collections, so please:
🔘 Arrive on time and be prepared for extra volume
🔘 Bring plenty of bags
🔘 Coordinate with fellow FWHs in your Squad Chat if you can’t take/store all items safely. They can help you out and list under ‘Personal’ (or under a future slot at that store, if available)
📩 Post-Collection Survey reminder
If you receive a post-collection message for a collection that didn’t actually happen, please reply to it so you’re not incorrectly removed from your slots. We are doing our best to prevent these from being sent when there is no collection, but some may slip through!

⬇️ Below you will find detailed information for each business or sector during the holiday season
🏢Collections from catered sites (offices, healthcare, defence)
Collections may be updated on the system. Please check in with your site in the weeks prior to the Christmas season to confirm when the last collection will be needed before the Christmas closure.
🎒Collections from education sites (schools and universities)
Collections may be updated on the system. Please check in with your site in the weeks prior to the Christmas season to confirm when the last collection will be needed before the Christmas closure.
🛒Collections from supermarkets & convenience stores
Asda
You can collect as soon as you receive the confirmation message. This is typically sent around 2pm and includes the collection code you’ll need to show to a store colleague for them to release the food.
Please note that collection times are not affected by bank holiday trading hours.
All Asda stores will be closed on Christmas Day (25 December). Please do not attend your collection, even if you receive a confirmation message.
Boots
Please collect 30 minutes before closing time, as bank holiday trading hours are stated on the Boots Website.
Central England Co-op
Collections are 15 minutes before store closing time, as stated on the Central England Co-op Website.
Holland & Barrett
All collections are Ad-hoc – Holland and Barrett will send a message into your Squad Chat confirming if there is food available to collect. Please check the Holland & Barrett Website for current trading hours.
Iceland
Collection times will be automatically updated for 26th/31st December and 1st January.
For all other days over the festive period, please check with Iceland staff and your Squad Chat, and always collect 15 minutes before closing time.
Midcounties Co-op
Please collect 30 minutes before closing time, as stated on the Midcounties Co-op Website.
Sainsbury’s
Please collect 15 minutes before the closing time. Your collection time will be updated to reflect changes in store trading hours due to the bank holiday.

SSP
Any changes to your collections will be reflected directly on the system and/or please check the updated timetable HERE.
Tesco Ireland

Please collect 30 minutes before closing time stated on the Whole Foods Website.
