💛 The high-level summary of the webinar is as follows:
- Aiming to get to breakeven in 2027: We had to conduct yet another extremely painful restructuring exercise in December, which means we’re now a team of just 41; however this will enable us to get to breakeven hopefully sometime next year
- Important lessons learned from the Christmas period: Christmas is always our busiest time of the year, but also a time that comes with multiple inherent challenges. We’re already working on improvements to make Christmas 2026 smoother than last year
- Save Me Collections (SMCs) have had a massive impact: 60k+ SMCs are advertised every month, and approximately half are claimed by FWHs – a great outcome as many of these would have previously gone unclaimed. Even though FWHs are allowed to keep all of their Save Me Collection, 40% of SMCs result in food being shared with the wider community
- Olio will be facilitating donations to charities: Charities will use the Olio app to manage their collections from some stores – but this won’t impact existing FWH collections
- Continuing to tackle persistent rule-breakers (“bad actors”): We’re taking a 4-step (define-measure-test-automate) approach to address bad actors, and will be seeking input from the community on this soon via a survey
- Launching a student-focused marketing campaign: We’re going to launch a campaign targeting students as many are cash-strapped but have enough time to collect food from their neighbours or from stores directly as a Food Waste Hero
